The Roman Goddess of Dawn. New beginnings, fresh youthfulness, she brings new life to you. Let the brightness of daylight shine on you for all time. She rides into the sky ahead of the Sun. She has a purple mantle that spreads out behind Her as She rides; and She is said to scatter roses and flowers before Her. Aurora is also the name for the phenomenon of the northern (or southern) lights, great displays of shifting colors in the skies of the far north and south. They are generally said to look like shifting curtains or veils of light, evoking Aurora's purple cloak blowing behind Her as She rides across the sky.

Aurora rides into the sky ahead of the Sun.

Aurora is one of the most beautiful of all goddesses. There is no other goddess of whom we have so many beautiful descriptions by the poets. She is known for bringing out her followers own beauty and personality. If you are looking for a new fresh beginning to your life, Aurora is the goddess whom you need.

Because of one mistake she made when she was young, She vowed to never again let old age creep upon one of her true followers.

Aurora is the mother of the Four Winds, because, after a calm in the night, the winds rise in the morning, as attendant upon the sun, by whose heat and light they are begotten. Her name also means breeze or wind.  She is also the Mother of the Morning Star, Lucifer which means Light Bringer, and watches over the Twilight until his Mother comes.  Lucifer is also the name of the planet Venus.

Aurora, goddess of the morning, was the youngest daughter of Titan and Terra. She is said to have been the daughter of Titan and the earth, because the light of the morning seems to rise out of the earth, and to proceed from the sun, which immediately follows it. Orpheus calls her the harbinger of Titan, for she is the personification of that light which precedes the appearance of the sun.

This goddess is described as rising out of the ocean in a saffron robe, seated in a flame-colored car, drawn by two or four horses, expanding with her rosy fingers the gates of light, and scattering the pearly dew. Virgil represents her horses as of flame color, and varies their number from two to four, according as she rises slower or faster.

Aurora is seen as a lovely woman who flies across the sky announcing the arrival of the sun. Aurora has two siblings: a brother, Helios .the sun, and a sister, Selene, the moon. She has had quite a number of husbands and sons. Aurora made one tragic mistake in her life. Her love for the mortal, Tithonus was so great she asked Jupiter to make him immortal.

Jupiter agreed, but since Aurora had neglected to ask for his eternal youth, Titonus aged and eventually, the legend goes, became so dried up he became a grasshopper. Her tears cause the dew as she flies across the sky weeping.

With Titonus, Aurora had two children, Memnon and Emathion. Memnon grew up to be a great king of Ethopia, but was killed by the mighty Greek warrior, Achilles, in the Trojan War. Still to this day Aurora is so upset over the death of her son that her tears regularly cover the Earth’s ground as dew.

Aurora was cursed by Aphrodite to always be in love. I don't think that is a a bad curse, if it is we should all have such a curse. Aurora can bring the beauty of the dawn to your love life each day. Her passion can be yours. She is the goddess you should turn to if you want to keep your love alive every day. She is the Goddess you need to bring the brightness into your life and love everyday.

When Aurora wakes up, feeling great about herself as usual, she flies across the sky, her wings leaving a trail of orange, red, and yellow so her brother Helios can ride his golden chariot across the sky bringing the sunshine to the Earth.

Aurora loves the colors of the dawn, reds, oranges, and pinks and shades of lavendar are all mixed together in streaks and clouds. Seek out the ones that remind you of the dawn, and use them to bring Aurora and her awakening into your life and love. Rose quartz is her favorite because it is also known as the "love stone."

She is the personification of dawn, of light and renewal. Aurora lives her life enmeshed in a series of brief encounters; She has forever outshone the majestic Helios. Aurora is known to be an amorous deity who has many mortal and immortal consorts, and she has a fleeting, yet eternally recurring beauty, which is expressed through tales of her many love affairs. Her sensuality and vibrancy make her impossible to resist.

Each of her stories characterize her as a fleeting beauty, one whose life is destined to be lived in the transient moments between the dark of the night and the appearance of the Sun. What a fitting way to describe the dawn whose fleeting beauty appears on the horizon each morn, only to fade in the brilliance of the sun. And through her tears of sorrow and loneliness, she brings the morning dew...for her attempts to create a satisfying life for herself are forever to be doomed to renew herself in the morning and fly across the sky...announcing the arrival of Helios.

One of Her lost loves was Ganymede, the largest moon of Jupiter, but the affair was brief and came to an abrupt ending when Zeus decided to claim him for his own. She was also the mistress of Ares, the God of War, but Ares was the partner of Aphrodite, a jealous and sometimes vindictive Goddess. That affair did not last long. She then fell in love with Orion, but this encounter, too, was brief.

She is most prominently represented ed as a "spirited maiden, with large wings, clad in robes of dazzling white and purple, a star or cap on her head, a torch in her hand, and driving in a chariot with four horses, or riding on Pegasus. Other times she appears floating in the air, and pouring morning dew from a vessel down to earth."

ODE TO AURORA, DAWN BREAKING

Aurora on your mighty mount you ride to bring in the new day
To push the darkness of night away
On the mighty unicorn you ride
Goddess of dawn you hold your head up with pride

You usher in the sun
A new day begun
The dew gentle on the flower
You are filled with infinite power

As you bring us a new day
Showing the beauty in every way
With every blade of grass sparkling with morning dew
This glorious day brand new

As the night ebbs away
You bring us into another day
Aura Goddess of the dawn and light
Ushering out the night

Breath in the new days delight
With you bringing in the early morning light
Let the new day begin for everyone
Now that we have goddess of light and sun!
