VOODOO MOJO LOA SPIRIT RING
MERRY MEET MY FRIENDS
DAMBELLAH'S SNAKE HEAD MOJO RING
This mojo ring is from the High Priestress , Belle Brousard, of the Order of Dambellah, the Voodoo serpent God. Handed down from her cult of worshipers of that order. This ring is a bronze plated enamel hand hammered ring in the form of a snake head. It is a Mojo Ring Size 7.5 Non-Gender
Dambellah is the most important of the Voodoo lwa. He is a snake God and lives in trees near water. He is the father of all Loa, which are Voodoo divinities. He is called Bon Dieu which means "good god" in the Haiti culture. He is married to Ayida Weddo or Erzulie, Goddess of Love and the Rainbow Goddess. Dambellah is the primordial creator of all life. His common sign is of two snakes among other emblems.
The snake head mojo ring was reserved for only the High Priestess of the Dambella Secret Society of the Loa worshipers. Dambellah is very closely associated with St. Patrick, who drove the snakes from Ireland, Moses with his serpent staff, Christ the Redeemer and Our Lady of Mercy. Moses had access to the Holy of Holies, and Dambellah is the Holy of Holies. He is the tabernacle. This is why Dambellah is the most sacred of all the Loa.
Damballah rules the mind, intellect, and cosmic equilibrium. Damballah is the patron protector of the handicapped, deformed, cripples, albinos, and young children. Damballah has superhuman strength enabling him to lift (press) possibly 50 tons. He is not immortal but extremely long lived. He will not die under any known conventional methods. Immune to all diseases and invulnerable to injury.
Damballah possesses the ability to tap into and manipulate certain undefined occult energies associated with curses and the underworld. His power is mostly confined to inflicting spheres of negative energies or “curses” which causes bad luck to those he directs it at. Those under his power can experience extra-ordinary empowerment. Damballah can also bestow power in his mortal followers, such as the power to control others. He is also particularly charismatic and can mesmerize virtually anybody he wants.
Damballah is a shape-shifter and can become a snake of extraordinary size. In anchient times, he appeared almost solely as a serpent. He can also become a raven, fog and can become invisible at will.
Dambellah is at the top of the Voodoo hierarchy, he is known to be the father of all the Loa. Moses also had access to the Holy of Holies, and Danbala is the Holy of Holies. He is the tabernacle. This is why Dambellah is the most sacred of all the Loa.
Dambellah does not associate with the Gede Loa, one of the families of Voodoo. The Gede smoke, drink and like hot peppers. Dambellah is a pure spirit. He must be kept clean.
!!!!! WARNING !!!!!
DO NOT SMOKE OR DRINK SPIRITS WHEN CALLING ON DAMBELLAH.
Dambella does not like the smell of cigarettes or liquor. He is a very pure spirit. He manifests himself as a serpent, and is known for his ability to create peace in even the most volatile of situations. Just don't mess with it, he will become very angry and likely will not serve you well. If at all.

Back in 1956, New Orleans was a thriving city with the music of the South. From every dance hall, every club, every restaurant you could hear the jumpin' strains of jazz, Cajun, zydeco and the beat of rhythm "n" blues. Bourbon Street was its epicenter, and it became world famous for its concentration of nightclub shows featuring exotic dancers, comics, risqué singers, and contortionists, backed by live house bands.
Along a five-block stretch, over fifty acts could be seen on any given night. The street gleamed with neon lights as "old time hawkers" enticed tourists and locals into the clubs to see the featured attractions whose photographs were prominently displayed. Clubs included the 500 Club, the Sho Bar, and the Casino Royale. It was a glamorous street The city was often heralded as “The Most Interesting City in America.”
New Orleans has a history of appealing to the carnal senses. Storyville, the famed red-light district at the turn of the last century, was known for its many houses of prostitution as well as being the birthplace of jazz music .
After vaudeville, and the success of burlesque, striptease became a mainstay on the nightclub stages. In the Forties, stripteasers were in it for the money, as servicemen passed in and out of town looking for a good time. But, as “Stormy,” one of the most popular Bourbon Street dancers at the time said in Cabaret magazine, “Anything you do–no matter what it is–if you do it well enough, can be lifted to an art.”
Girls competed with each other by creating acts based upon elaborate themes. Imagination was always the key even as props, beautiful costumes, mood lighting, and original music were incorporated into their acts. This only enhanced the natural beauty and talents of the girls.
There were a bevy of exotic dancers like Lilly Christine the Cat Girl, Evangeline the Oyster Girl, Alouette Leblanc the Tassel Twirler, Kalantan the Heavenly Body, Rita Alexander the Champagne Girl, Blaze Starr, Linda Brigette, the Cupid Doll, and Tee Tee Red. By far the most famous and popular one was Blaze Starr a curvy redhead that promoted New Orleans as the original Sin City.
The young beauties of Bourbon Street gained star status. They had their own hairstylists, maids, assistants, agents, and managers. They mingled with visiting celebrities. Some exotic dancers were given small roles in films. Lilly Christine the Cat Girl graced the covers of dozens of national magazines, and appeared in a few movies. Blaze Starr created the most headlines. Her affair with Earl Long made national news and raised many eyebrows. Earl Long was the 45th Governor of Louisiana for three non-consecutive terms. Long termed himself the "last of the red hot poppas" of politics.
Into this world of entertainment stepped a cream colored lady known as Belle Brousard. Belle was no stripper. She was in fact, a certified MOJO WOMAN. Belle was the reining Queen of Voodoo during the stripper days. Her clients consisted of literally all the famous dancers. In fact they all credited Belle with their stardom and good fortune. Belle's other list of "A" clients were the politicians of the day. Governor Earl Long and his famous mistress, Blaze Starr were at the top of the list. Earl, known as Uncle Earl to thousands of Louisianans, contacted Belle the day after he was lassoed into the infamous Pennhurst Mental hospital. The next day he was again a "free man."
Belle, as a child was raised by her Mother on a houseboat docked just on the edges of the infamous haunted Manchac Swamp. Manchac Swamp, the largest and most dangerous swamp near new Orleans was and is known for it's alligators.
More alligators live in the Manchac Swamp than any other waterway in the United States. because it is very warm, the waters are teeming with gators. Lake warmed water keeps the alligators visible during periods when the other swamps' alligators hibernate, but not in cold weather when they retire to underground dens. Manchac Swamp also contains the infamous blood red hanging tree and the surreal site of the cemetery of Frenier rising from the swamp that had reclaimed it.
Belle's mother was a Cajun swamp witch., called Gator June, So called because she could bewitch a gator into being her pet where he would act like a watchdog. Nobody dared approach the houseboat ever without calling Gator June to call off the gators that ran toward them. As a result, very few people ever came out to see Belle and her mother.
A Voodoo queen herself, Gator June, she was once captured and imprisoned for witchcraft at the beginnings of the twentieth century. It ended with her Voodoo curse and a horrific hurricane, three towns destroyed and over three hundred people killed.
The cemetery for the dead rest in the swamp waters of Manchac and you can still see the crosses of the graves that ended up stranded here forever. You can hear the howl of the rou-ga-rou ( Cajun werewolf) and at night the blood red eyes of the alligators floating on top of the water are enough to make even the most brave run with fear in their hearts.
Even when you drive over the Manchac Swamp bridge, the longest bridge in Louisiana, by length, and the third longest in the world, your heart beats faster and your eyes roam the waters below Interstate 55 Searching among the trailing locks of Spanish moss , you search for the tell tale splash of water where a tree shaking gator does the death roll and the webbed footprint of the rou-ga-rou sinks into the muddy wet marsh grass.
When Belle's mother passed on, Belle left the swamps and headed for new Orleans. With her she carried the knowledge of mama's magick. her mojo and Gris Gris bags, her spells, curses and juju dolls. Belle was prepared to become the talk of the town. She did just that.
Belle was soon entranced with the fun and glamor of the nightclubs and with her magick and her beauty she was soon the toast of New Orleans. at least among the Bourbon street crowds. However Belle wanted more. Soon Belle was whispered about as being the reincarnation of Marie Laveau, the most famous of all Voodoo Queens. Belle went everyday to Marie's tomb and beseached Marie to come and visit her.
In the meantime Belle made hundreds of mojo charms and mojo bags as well as Gris Gris bags, which is often carried in the form of a doll, or a bag and is essentially a way to carry a magick charm. A Gris Gris bag always has an odd number of magick items, from no less than three to no more than thirteen. Both mojo and Gris Gris are used as a noun and a verb. As in my Gris Gris is working or I call upon my Gris Gris. A bag may have any number of items like, stones, bones, cloth, feathers, beads, oils, anything can become a magickal item to help draw love, good fortune, protection, etc. etc.
Belle became an adviser to the girls of Bourbon street and also her name became synonymous with Marie Laveau. Many of the ladies went with politicians who frequented the clubs with their entourages. The politicians themselves began to ask Belle for a reading of their chances of being elected to a higher office. Many of them went on to become even more famous. Belle began to live in high style and became known throughout the city as the most powerful one. She soon met others in her work and became a lover of the king of voodoo, Chicken Man. between them they had everyone's ears.
Belle was on the party circuit every night, wheeling and dealing with powerful men and women. Partying with the famous and the not so famous. Anyone who wanted or needed a love spell, a wealth spell, or even those that just needed a self esteem spell got it from Belle or one of her disciples. They all believed in her power. Marie Laveau was born again.
Even today the queens of Voodoo will invoke Marie, but no one claims to have been her reincarnation, but Belle was totally recognized as the one Marie had chosen to carry her true spirit and walk again among new Orleans. It's no doubt that she did indeed. Too many secrets came from Belle that only Marie knew. Marie herself has told those in the spirit world that Belle is her friend and those who walk with the spirits know Belle was the reincarnated Marie Laveau.
Marie Laveau had indeed visited with Belle in the early hours of morning. Belle was asleep on her bed when she heard the swish of a heavy skirt brushing across the rug. As she awoke and looked toward the bedroom door, she saw the ghostly figure of Marie. Dressed in white with her seven pointed turban on her head, and Zomba draped around her neck she entered the bedroom in a midst of ethereal veils of air. They had talked, they had laughed and they had made a blood oath that Marie would be by her side as long as she needed. Marie was delighted to be back among the living and reliving all her glory. Belle was worthy of being the vessel Marie needed to revive her life and manipulate her powers again.
For ten years the two of them resided in Belle's body. Marie and Belle serviced many clients with their magick. Loves were given and taken. Fame and fortune were given and taken away. Illness and stress were relieved and yes, illness and stress were handed out to those whom belle and Marie thought deserved it. Belle and Marie spent every day charming and blessing those who needed a helping hand. And those that needed a come uppence got that too. Then in 1962, just the day after Belle's 47th birthday, Belle disappeared.
Even Chicken Man who knew her best could not or would not say what had happened. Until his death in 1998 he never mentioned Belle again. When anyone would ask him, he would smile and shake his head and then just say nothing. That he knew, was a no brainier but he was not telling. Still this day many people claim to see Marie Laveau, but rarely does anyone ever ask about Belle Brousard. It's as if she never existed.
Some say she and Marie got in a fight and Marie won out. some say Marie turned on her and that Zomba bit her, she died and was cast back into the swamp. Perhaps she is there this day, one of the ghostly figures, some see on a moonless night. Perhaps she and Marie have been reunited again and walk as one. Belle appeared on the scene and disappeared within ten years but oh those ten years were powerful magick.
The spirits say it is so :
SO MOTE IT BE
